Wm K Walthers. Inc. started its humble beginnings in year 1932 in Milwaukee. After five years the company have grown that they have to move to a new place for larger space. By then a new line of HO scale is featured in their catalog. The hobby for model train was given a big boost by 1939 when Bill Walthers brought operating layouts to the World’s Fair.
When war came, manufacturers were told to stop production so to save metal supplies thus Walthers shifted to using non essential materials. In the next 20 years, a great change in the Walthers Company happens. Old Bill retired and his son Bruce replace him. By 1960 Walthers became a full line distributor of other manufacturer’s product.
Today, Walthers is dedicated in distributing high quality railroad equipment around the world. They offer over 200,000 different items from over 300 manufacturers and they supply them to thousands of hobby shops around the world.
Walthers although they are a distributor of products from other manufacturers, they did not stop making their own trains. By 1985 the Code 83 track was introduce in the market and by 1990 the Cornerstone series buildings appear enhancing the layout realism of the modelers. By 1994, the Train Line Deluxe Sets and locomotives were introduced. To date, Walthers never stop to expand and develop more products.
