Are you an avid collector of toy trains or is it your first time to buy one for your kids? You might be confused which one to buy especially since model trains come in various sizes. There are trains whose length is two feet while there are trains too that are small like the size of your finger.
For everyone’s information, models trains are measured in scale. It is relative measurement of a mode train against the actual thing. Each scale corresponded to a letter like O scale, G scale, N scale, N scale HO scale, S scale and Z scale.
The O scale corresponds to a scale of 1:48 which means the model train is actually 1/48 the size of the actual train or actually 48 times smaller than the actual train. Take note that O Gauge is different from O scale since O Gauge refers to the width of the track so do not get confused with the two terms.
O scale train is the most common among other scales available. They were introduced in year1900 by Marklin, a toy manufacturer from Germany. These model trains are primarily made in Germany and was popular until World War II where German manufacturers become less popular but then O scale models continued to become popular in United States in the early 1960’s which is then manufactured by leading manufacturers in United states which includes Lionel, American Flyer and Ives Manufacturing.
Consumers do prefer O scale trains. They are easy to handle and the trains are easy to set-up with your kids. It is large and impressive and certainly a lot of fun to play with. The only thing is that it needs a lot of space and needs a lot of time set it up too.
If it is your first exposure with Model Trains then the O scale is the best for you. These trains are easily available than the other model trains and it is easy to set-up and not complicated at all. Even collectors favor O scale models. Because of its size, it is indeed a great gift to kids.
