We bought this to add to an existing Lionel set. It has enough power to pull at least five or six cars. It goes forward and in reverse and the whistle sounds. The engine is stable and it is hard to derail it. We ran it at full speed on a O-36 Fastrack loop and it stayed on the track. The details look nice. The eyes go back and forth and you can change the faces, but we never do so. For the money it is a nice engine.
