Bachmann is the popular brand when we talk about model trains worldwide. It provides inexpensive toys and yet dedicated to bring high quality train sets for the masses. Bachmann started as maker of products like ivory made combs, parasol handles and many more. Through the years it advances into a new line of products and it started to make Plasticville USA line of kits accessories like houses, and any other buildings for model train layouts.
In the middle of 1960’s they began to make N scale model trains products. By 1981 the owners of Bachmann observed the ebbing of demand for model railroading products thus the owners decided to sell the company to Kader Group. It is a Hongkong based company thus all products were now manufactured in China.
By 1990,Bachmann introduced their new G scale model train named Big Haulers. Another popular G scale model train is none other than the Emmet Kelly Jr. circus train which was first introduced in 1993. It is a toy train set which contains animal cage cars. This model became a collector’s item in such a short time.
They also introduce much higher quality equipment in 1988. The “Spectrum” is more realistic in design and definitely much better than the company’s standard product. By 2006 they have develop a new system use in their product that is the Digital Command Control. With this new development they have partnered with a German company by the name of Lenz Elektronik, GmbH. From then on all Bachmann’s trains are operated with the DCC system.
To date, Bachmann has provided consumers with large scale trains as well as the HO scale, O scale, On30 scale and the N scale. Indeed Bachmann have remained and continue to build their reputation in the world of locomotives. They are definitely are here to stay for a long time.
